Asphalt Shingles

We have chosen to recommend and use only GAF-Elk shingles based on the superior quality of the products. The use of these shingles helps us feel confident in our warranty and assures longlasting and troublefree shingle installations.

Cedar Roofing

There are several different types of cedar roofing. Each type has a different look to complement each different structure. The Number 1 Blue Label, which has no imperfections in the material, will give you a more uniform look. Number 1 Blue Label is the premium shingle and the only one that Jeff Alte Roofing, Inc. recommends. There are other cedar shingle products, but they are below our standard of roofing material. As for the cedar shake roof, the same rules apply here at Jeff Alte Roofing, Inc. We only use the Number 1 Blue Label. These also come in a variety of sizes depending on the look for your home or building.

Cedar roofing, like all others, needs a maintenance system. We can help you by designing a custom maintenance system for your specific needs. This will help prolong the life of the roof. One major problem in cedar roofing is moss or growth of algae on the material. This will shorten the life of the material greatly. There is more than one option to keep the roof clear of this by installing zinc stripping at the peaks of all roofing to help prevent any further growth. As it rains the mild natural solution will be brought down the roof. Any nearby branches or trees should be trimmed back. All key ways (spaces between cedar) should always be kept clean. Last but not least, cedar needs to breathe to last a lifetime. We will also inspect your ventilation needs.

Cedar roofing, just like slate and copper roofing, has been around for hundreds of years. Cedar roofing is a delicate material to install and should only be installed by someone with experience in this area. At Jeff Alte Roofing, Inc. we have the ability to fix any type of problem from flashing details, walls, valleys, chimneys, to missing or cracked shakes or shingles. Each roof requires a different approach and a specific plan.

Copper Roofing

Copper roofing has been used for centuries throughout the world. One of the oldest buildings with this roofing is in Philadelphia and dates back to 1787. Traditional copper roofing can give your home or building a roof to last a lifetime. There are some estimates that show copper lasting around 100 years!

It takes a true craftsman to install a quality copper roof. This type of roof will separate your home or building from the rest. Copper is best known for its patina green color. After installation, copper will turn from its shiny salmon color to various shades of bronze and hues of green before reaching its final patina, the familiar green color. This process can take 25-30 years.

Though copper has a higher cost initially, properly installed copper roofing and flashings can last a lifetime with little or no maintenance. Copper is also resistant to fire and corrosion from severe weather or industrial conditions. This is one of the highest quality forms of roofing that can give your home or building a great accent.

Slate Roofing

Slate roofing has been used since the beginning of roofing throughout the world. Some roofs in Europe date back hundreds of years. The initial cost of slate roofing is great. Over time it will pay for itself with the astonishing long-lasting material. Depending on the slate and the installation, average life expectancy can last nearly 150 years!

Slate roofs need maintenance. Even the best slate roofs will crack or become loose. The most important thing is to address these problems early on. We can create a custom maintenance package just for your home or building.

Keeping in line with our standards, we use only top grade slate. All of our slate is shipped directly from the quarry. We use Vermont Slate and Penn Slate that comes in many different styles, colors, and shapes.
